A new model for Intelligence ROI — (I-ROI)

Image
Introduction Many articles were published about the ROI of an investment in Intelligence projects. I can name at least 3 important articles about the subject handed to me by my friend Trip Krant. All of them and a lot of others try to format a model to measure ROI on Intelligence projects. Why do we need to invest in Intelligence projects? The primary key-word is Risk. In a Risk-free world, (not that it exists anywhere), the survival of a good organization is almost guaranteed. We know today what would be the outcome of tomorrow, and the level of certainty is high. Decision making and planning becomes much easier. However, the world is very risky, and every decision, planning, and strategy decided on by an organization must consider and embed the Risk factor. In this article, I intend to suggest another model of evaluating the value of Information, derived from investing in Intelligence projects. The Operative Intelligence Gap (OIP) To begin with, I’d like to describe a Risk-free...

Supply and Demand Curves in the era of COVID-19

When it comes to economics, there are basic factors to consider when analyzing and discussing market status. We base our economy on the Supply of goods and services, and the Demand for those goods. In this short article, I would like to explain in simple words and with some charts, the first steps of all economic analysis, to understand what Supply Curve and Demand Curve stand for. Then, I will demonstrate its basic use in the case of a market that is relevant to recent months. ‘Demand Curve’ shows the relations between the goods we would like to acquire, such as four drinking-glasses, and the price we are willing to pay for those goods. Let us assume that we agree to pay up to 10$ for those four glasses. When it comes to the fifth drinking-glass, we do not want to pay the same price as we paid before for a glass (2.5$), and so we offer a lower price. The linear curve shows that when our will to buy any product increases, we tend to offer less money for the next unit we buy. ‘Sup...

A new model of Intelligence Process in a company

Image
Introduction We often tend to think of Intelligence, in Military connotations in which it is defined up to the last detail. Moreover, its missions and goals are known and accepted by a large community around the world. Add to that the fact that Military Intelligence has its game-rules which are known and played almost the same worldwide. Also attached to it an ethical code, sometimes an unwritten one. Now let us turn to Intelligence in the business connotations, and we might find out that things look different, although the aims of the Intelligence process are many times the same. When looking at Intelligence processes in the business world, one can find a mixture of approaches, many different definitions, and explanations. Also, there is a variety of Intelligence units in an organization where it adapts Intelligence processes that seems fit at that time. Amongst the distortions in Intelligence perceptions regarding the business world, arose sub-intelligence areas or civil-intelligence...

Facebook and Privacy

Something bad is going over Facebook! it might be the aftereffect of the ‘Cambridge-Gate’ scandal, but I think it is much more than that. The strength of Facebook and maybe the main reason for its widespread is those 3 pillars which it is built on from day-one by the vision of its maker: Share, Transparent, Mutual contribution, and Creativity. Moreover, by sharing, transparency, and mutual contribution, Facebook gave a whole new meaning to the concept of Community. It has also reached, in my opinion, the highest level of mutual-knowledge up to the level of common knowledge, a term taken from the game theory, which means the highest level of knowledge awareness in a group. i.e., I know that you know that I know that you know, etc. Facebook is for the people and by the people and if people wouldn’t like the concepts it is built on, they wouldn’t make it so important in our daily life. No one can suspect that I have any personal interests in Facebook whatsoever, but I would like to ...
